timing

It's amazing to learn God's timing little by little.  With all the clutter in my mind and heart I can't fully look at things in God's perspective.  Days passed with streak of anxiety and silent grumblings.  These are bad symptoms huh.  Thankfully, God gave me a much needed heart check-up last weekend. :)

I found myself singing (again?!) yesterday while at work.  God is great in giving songs to sing at the right moment.
I was singing...
Shower me with your love
Shower me with the love
That I long for
Shower me with your love
Shower me with the love
I've been waiting for

It was some kind of a prayer.  We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). :)

Speaking of timing, I read yesterday's devotional in the Purpose Driven Life website entitled "Time Zones and Faith".  God's timing is really perfect.  According to the devotional, there are two different time zones going on when it comes to correlating God's will and our experience -- My Desperate Time (MDT) and the other, God's Own Time (GOT).  It says, "So faith is mostly all about time zones.  When you pray, know that you were heard, and move ahead, believing in GOT and just maybe, MDT won't be so desperate."

"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

lately

I found myself singing (in my mind) a love song on my way to work this morning.
I was singing...
Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there's no one else above you
You fill my heart with gladness,
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles
That's what you do...

Well, I was singing it for God. :) Lately, I've been anxious for no reason at all that I forgot to tell Him how much I love Him. :) I remembered an insight of a friend I've met in a recent retreat I attended. She called it the "I love you too phenomenon". "I love you too" because God is always saying "I love you" to us. So our response should be "I love you too, God!". :)

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 NASB

sweet love song

Wait For Me
by Rebecca St. James

Darling, did you know that I
I dream about you
Waiting for the look in your eyes
When we meet for the first time
And darling, did you know that I
I pray about you
Praying that you will hold on
And keep your loving eyes only for me

CHORUS:
'Cause I am waiting for, praying for you darling
Wait for me too
Wait for me as I wait for you
'Cause I am waiting for, praying for you darling
Wait for me too
Wait for me as I wait for you
Darling wait

Darling did you know
I dream about life together
Knowing it will be forever
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
And darling when I say
"’Til death do us part"
I mean it with all of my heart
Now and always faithful to you

CHORUS

Now I know you may have made mistakes
But there's forgiveness, and a second chance
So wait for me, darling wait for me
Wait for me
Darling wait for me

CHORUS

love & grace

I was browsing through the TV channels for programs I could watch one early evening. I watched one segment of Guinness Book of World Records Primetime in a local channel. There was a man from Lithuania who attempted to break his own record of most weight lifted by his beard. He was able to lift 122 lbs before. This time he broke his own record by lifting a lady with a special harness that has a total weight of 132.2 lbs. You can see the smile of triumph in his face as people are clapping their hands in approval. Then I switched to another channel and watched a portion of The Swan. One contestant is a mother of two boys and is happily married. She joined the contest because people are teasing her not-so-good appearance (nose of a witch, excess hair on her face, etc.). After her painful but successful operation, she proudly walks down the ramp in an evening gown feeling beautiful with her “new” face. People are applauding in delight…

I remembered a song I heard last week…The Corrs was singing “what can I do to make you love me, what can I do to make you care…” Well, love songs could be heard everywhere these days. I just noticed that most love songs are sad ones. “What can I do to make you love me?” Interesting question huh? Then I read this passage in Philip Yancey’s What’s So Amazing About Grace? – “THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO TO MAKE GOD LOVE US MORE. THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO TO MAKE GOD LOVE US LESS.” So I don’t need to do some incredible acts and undergo some surgical operations for God to love me? Even if I’m a lousy singer and an ugly duckling? Yes, yes, yes. But God has shown us how much he loves us – it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us! (Romans 5:8) Greater love has no one than this, that he (Jesus) lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13) This is God’s love. This is God’s grace. Grace is getting what we don’t deserve. We don’t deserve His great love and yet He lavished it on us. This is our God.

I had a privilege of witnessing God’s great love in the Metro Manila Franklin Graham Festival last February 2-5. Thousands of people heard and responded to God’s message… “I will always love you, I want to be close to you.” The band was singing, “come, just as you are…” while people were going to the response area. “Just as you are”…nothing more and nothing less. What else can we say to a God of such extravagant, over-the-top love. Nothing but “Lord, thank You for loving me!”

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found –
Was blind, but now I see.

As Christians, we should not just thank God for loving us. We ought to show His love and grace to others. :)
